The foundation of health

The old adage "We are what we eat" is becoming especially true in the modern era. As people and research have discovered, changes in diet and being focused around feed components can and does have a major impact on well-being, longevity and overall health.

Evidence-led approach

Every recommendation is grounded in current peer-reviewed veterinary nutrition research — not feeding trends or marketing claims.

Tailored to your pet

Plans are built around your individual pet — their breed, age, lifestyle, health history, and your household's preferences and budget.

BVSc · Cert Animal Nutrition

I am a practising clinical veterinarian with a strong interest in nutrition and the central role it plays in our animals' health. To deepen this expertise, I completed a postgraduate Certificate in Animal Nutrition and am currently working towards a Master's degree in the field.

Growing up on a farm in New Zealand, many of our working dogs were fed a diet of raw mutton mixed with premium dog biscuits. Nearly all had shiny coats, were never lean nor obese and aside from work related issues, very rarely had to visit the vet for the issues I saw frequently in small animal practise. The picture in our pets is vastly different - recurring ear infections, skin allergies, obesity and arthritis being major issues many pets and their owners face.

In my experience in general practise, many of the pets I saw were for chronic inflammatory issues such as allergic skin disease, osteoarthritis, or chronic gut issues. As an owner, it can be extremely distressing, costly and difficult trying to get on top of these conditions. I also found many were not responding to conventional treatments as well as I would have hoped. This, along with my own personal interest in nutrition and how it can impact our bodies, led to a post graduate certificate in animal nutrition.

My aim is not to replace veterinary treatment, but rather the opposite. Vets often get limited time to discuss nutrition, with short consult times and high workloads in clinic. Rather, by building a solid nutrition plan, we together can reduce the confounding effects of nutritional issues and help build a better overall pet health. With research based evidence, alongside a thorough nutritional plan and follow up consults to review results, we can enhance your pets health through food.
